Joycestick teaches you that with VR, great literature can now belong to everyone. The Joycestick experiences takes the most significant (and intimidating) novel of the twentieth century and brings it to life. In a series of immersive scenes from James Joyce's "Ulysses", this multidisciplinary team of college students has produced an exciting and dynamic experience that can transform the public's enjoyment of great works. Recounting the pitfalls, and celebrating the achievements of their start-up, the Academic Professor, student Engineer Lead, and student Audio Director will show how a world-class project can be created from nothing but determination and imagination.

Takeaway

Bridging the gap between the Humanities and Sciences will transform learning. In a medium as artistic as AR/VR, tomorrow's great developers must be interdisciplinary. Artists will become programmers, creators morph into technologists. The new interdisciplinarians will be solvers of unforseeable problems, imaginers of novel workarounds, and creators of tomorrow's world.

Intended Audience

Students who love to brainstorm, artists who wish to program, instructors who like to innovate, creators who want to collaborate -- anyone with ideas bigger than their budgets can learn from the Joycestick experience. Joycestick was built out of nothing but imagination. And determination. Open minds will be rewarded.
