This session will examine the development roadblocks slowing down multiplayer design today and how distributed simulation engines can solve those problems. From partitioning worlds into cells to resource allocation in the cloud, Hadean will use our experience building distributed simulation engines to explain how they will unlock creativity for game developers; allowing them to create new genres, new worlds and new possibilities. Plus, Hadean will cover the impact these engines will have on the game development process, from minimising ops and engineering to impact on product roadmaps.
Attendees will learn what the future of multiplayer gaming will look like, as games development pivots towards distributed simulation engines. They will learn what impact the new technology will have on the design of multiplayer games and what sort of new experiences the technology will enable.
Target audience will be developers who work on multiplayer-focused projects, such as MMOs and Battle Royale games. They will already understand how the technical limitations of multiplayer architecture informs their design of those games and they will be curious to learn how new technology can remove design constraints for them.
