After 6 years, and many accolades, the 'BANNER SAGA' trilogy saw its completion in summer 2018. In this session, Composer Austin Wintory will give a postmortem for all three scores, detailing their creative and logistic challenges and solutions. This will involve looking at specific musical choices, production choices (such as where and why to record specific ensembles and soloists), how the contracts were structured to enable maximum value and how all these processes evolved across the trilogy.
The hope is a solid stack of useful, practical tips on the production and logistics side of game scoring, and simultaneously a slew of ideas that might prove creatively inspiring for the audience's own works.
Anyone will be welcome, and many of the points raised should prove helpful to veterans as much as beginners. However, as with most postmortems, those early in their career will likely find the most new information.
