Topic: AI Summit

Format: Session

Vault Recording: Video

Audience Level: All

This session introduces a method that leads to more aware, expressive, and lively agents that can answer their own needs and interact with the player. Notably, this session covers the use of an emotional component coupled with a liking-disliking environment awareness system, a play on truth and lies, and the addition of a layer of communication (speech) to allow more immersive and interactive AIs. While the original application is for VR, it can be applied to any game where there is a need for more immersive and interactive agents.

Attendees will learn how to use state-of-the-art emotion theory such as the PAD model for mood control and the OCC model for emotions generation, a method to handle truth and lies, and how to support liking-disliking behaviors in their game. They will also learn to make a voice recognition system, which allows a large variety of phrasing.

Intended Audience

Anyone curious about livelier AIs, especially in virtual reality, and anyone with an interest in emotional AIs and how it affects their decisions.
