Mobile is the most popular platform for AR content. However, the challenges of app development and distribution often complicate the creation of consumer AR projects. Both Snapchat and Facebook's respective AR platforms are powerful new ways to develop and distribute AR content on phones without creating an app. By utilizing the unique social features of both services and working within the restrictions of a heavily sandboxed AR environment, it's possible to build AR experiences on phones rivaling native ARKit and ARCore apps with less distribution friction and built-in social virality.

This talk focuses on the capabilities of these platforms and how you can use them as an alternative to ARCore and ARKit when creating games and other consumer AR experiences.

You will learn about the powerful capabilities of both Facebook Camera Effects and Snapchat World Lens and how you can use them to build compelling smartphone AR content without making an app.

Intended Audience

This talk is for app developers looking for new ways to reach smartphone customers with AR, brand managers looking for more ways to distribute AR content, and immersive developers looking for a complete survey of the AR landscape.
