'Noita' is a rogue-lite set in a procedurally generated physics based destructible world. In this talk, co-creator Petri Purho talks about the technical details of the physics engine, including scaling up the falling sand simulation to support large continuous worlds and integrating destructible rigid body physics, while demonstrating the emergent physics based gameplay.
Attendees should come away from this talk having learned pros and cons of writing your own engine, understading how technology can enable new kinds of gameplay, and a look at a novel approach for physics simulation in games.
